Pod

Smallest deployable unit in Kubernetes, grouping co-located containers sharing network namespaces and storage volumes.

Mechanism & Definition

The fundamental execution primitive in Kubernetes. A Pod encapsulates one or more co-located containers that share the same Linux network namespace (IP address and port space), IPC namespace, and storage volumes. Containers in a Pod communicate over localhost and share lifecycle schedules on a single cluster node.
